Mallie Anne

Our sweet little Mallie, (pronounced “Mah-lee”), was born
Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 9:35 a.m.
She weighed in at 7 lbs. 15.7 oz, so, 8 lbs, and is 19 inches long.

Isn’t she beautiful?
She’s such a sweet little thing, too.
Calm. Quiet.
And she LOVES her pacifier!
Labor was long- 11 hours.
It also decided to stop for a bit there, so the doctor put me on Pitocin.
Things got kind of scary, too.
With each contraction, Mallie’s pulse rate would take a dive.
So, they put me on oxygen,
and when that didn’t fix the problem, they stopped the Pit.
Luckily, labor continued on it’s own,
and we waited for my doctor to come and break my water.
Since he was in surgery at the time, we waited for a while.
Well, as we were waiting, Mallie decides she’s ready to make her entrance!
And the doctor was still in surgery!
So, I had a different doctor come help deliver.
Mallie was born nice and purple!
I was able to help dry her off, too.  (First time for that! Awesome!)
Ivon was asked if he wanted to cut the cord… he said, “If you knock $500 off the bill!”
(He’s not too much into that kind of stuff!)
Yet, despite her being purple and not handling labor very well, she is nice and healthy and just
beautiful!
We’ve waited for her for so long!
I love my little Mallie,
and I am so thankful that she is finally here!

Surgery (Continued…)

Hannah had her surgery this morning, and all went very well.  The surgeon was able to put the pieces back, except for a tiny bone fragment that he says shouldn’t ever be a problem.  (Hopefully!)  She now has two pins in her elbow, and he was able to put them in from the outside of her elbow, missing the major nerve that is on the inside of the elbow.  He didn’t even have to cut an incision, which was a worry.  We had worried also that she would have a hard time coming out of the anesthesia, like with her last surgery.  But, her O2 stats were very good during the wake up process and she woke up as normal as possible.  Crying.  (Apparently it’s very common for girls and women to cry when they wake up… go figure.  Crying just makes you feel better sometimes!  Like eating chocolate or ice cream!)  Poor girl.  She laid there in Daddy’s arms just crying saying she couldn’t stop!   Her arm hurt quite a bit as she was waking up, but, they were able to give her some good medication and now I believe we have her pain under control.  Thank goodness!  There’s nothing worse than having your little girl (or boy) in pain, and not being able to do anything about it.  It’s heart wrenching!

I was so glad that Ivon was able to stay to help me with her.  My goodness, I don’t know what I’d do without him!  My mom and sister were able to come watch the other kids and send two of them off to school, too.  What a wonderful blessing it is to have family close!  I don’t know what I would do without my family!  They are such a wonderful support to me, always willing to help me through any of my trials.  The women in the Church are wonderful, too!  Between my family and the Relief Society, I have meals coming in for a few days.  I am so thankful for all these blessings!  I hope that someday I will be able to return the service when they need it as well.  I feel so loved!  It’s amazing!  I know my Heavenly Father loves me, because he’s given me such a wonderful family!

Surgery

So, we went to the doctor today.
Hannah has to have surgery tomorrow.
Pins again.
We will be there at 6:30 am, and her surgery is at 7:30 am.
I won’t be induced this week.
If at all.
I needed to be there for Hannah.
It breaks my heart to miss going in Wednesday to meet Mallie.
But, I couldn’t bear the thought of not being able to be take care of Hannah.
Please keep us in your prayers!

Hannah….

Okay.
I know I said that I needed something to do.
But, this is ridiculous.
Tonight, Hannah was riding her scooter.
She tried to do a trick on it….
and fell off.
As I was making dinner, I hear her screaming outside.
“MOMMY!  OW!  IT FEELS LIKE IT”S BROKEN! AHHHH!”
Her arm looked kind of funny.
And, sure enough.  It’s BROKEN!
Actually, she broke it much the same way she broke it when she was about 3 years old.
When she had to have surgery on it.
Same arm.
Same area.
Most likely same surgery.

Here’s the interesting thing.
My doctor wants to induce me next Wednesday, just to make sure I make it to the hospital.
Hannah’s surgery will be sometime next week… not sure when.
She has to go into the Orthopedic Surgeon on Monday to see what kind of surgery,
and when it will be.
(She was feeling much better after the meds they gave her.  She was actually a little loopy!)
When it rains, it pours!

waiting… and Waiting… and WAITING

So, as I sit here, waiting for Mallie to make her debut,
I am trying very hard to keep busy, so I don’t go crazy.
Or, crazier.
Today, I am 38 weeks, and 2 days along.
And, I am running out of things to do!
For the first time in 3 years, my laundry has been caught up for a week or two now.
We have everything we need for Mallie, (I think!).
I mowed and watered the lawn yesterday.
Dishes are done.
Bathrooms are clean.
Floors are clean.
Bags are packed.
Car is cleanish, (it’s hard to keep that one clean with four other kids…)
I have quilted and crocheted until my wrists and fingers are sore…
So, now I just want to show you some of the things I have made for Mallie.
(I can’t wait to see her!)
Nana gave me this quilt top.  I love it!  I quilted most of it by hand.

I wanted to make some booties and a hat for Mallie to wear in the hospital.
I was hoping that these would take me a while to finish.
They took me less than a day…

And, who can resist such a cute boot pattern?
I couldn’t!
Once again hoping it would take a while to finish…
and once again taking less than a day…

So, you see… I have everything and even extra things ready for her.
Now, I just need the baby!

Emily’s Baptism

How do you adequately describe such a beautiful day?
There are very few days in my life when I have felt so close to my Heavenly Father and Savior.
One of the times was when Ivon and I got married.
The other times were the moments my children were born.
It’s like the veil is so thin.
And my joy is complete…
Last Saturday was another of those days.
Emily chose to enter the waters of baptism and make a covenant with her Heavenly Father.
Ivon was the one to baptize and confirm her.
It was so wonderful!
I want to cry just thinking about that day!
She was so beautiful!
And excited!
She practically glowed for days after!
Emily and her Daddy.
(I just love these two!)
And we had to get pictures of Madison and Emily together.
(Madison was baptized in June of this year.)
Beautiful girls!
I am truly thankful to my Heavenly Father for blessing us with days like these.
This is one day that I will not soon forget.
The memory, nor the feelings that come with the memory.
I know our Heavenly Father loves us.
He gives us glimpses of Heaven to help us through hard days.
I love my Heavenly Father.
And I love my Emily!

Family Pics!

We had family pictures taken on the 10th of August.
My wonderfully talented sister-in-law, Stefanie, took them.
(Keep in mind that I was 33 weeks along… please be kind! ;) )

Yeah, she made us look good!  ;)
Stefanie also wanted to take some of me…
I’ve never been one to like how I look pregnant,
but, I have to say that I LOVE how these turned out.
(Thank you Stefanie!)

And, as always, Ivon has to goof off in a picture!

This next one, though, is one of my absolute favorites!
Thank you, Stefanie!

Happy Birthday, Ivon!

Isn’t he cute?  (I love this picture of him!)
I just wanted to publicly say how much I love this guy!  He’s amazing.
He’s a great strength to me, and I don’t know what I would do without him!
He also turned 33 today!  I noticed a few more gray hairs on his head, too!
Happy Birthday, Ivon!
I love you!

Robby’s First Day of Kindergarten

Can you believe it?  I can’t.  He’s now in school.
Heaven help Birch Creek Elementary!  Just kidding.
Maybe.
I really don’t know what’s with his smiles.
I think they are broken and under construction.
Doesn’t he look cute?!
He was so excited!
Especially because he got to wear his Spiderman shirt.
The picture changes to color when he’s in the sun.
I now have three kids in school.
Christopher had to pose for the camera…
with his backpack and “hallma-ike” (a.k.a. homework. The notebook).
For when he goes to “gool”.
He’s going to be mighty lonely without Robby.
Until Mallie comes, of course.
Then he’ll be a “great” “HELP(!)”.
Robby was mostly ready for me to go.
I sure had a hard time leaving him there.
Especially with this face…
He had a great day, though.
When I asked him, “What did you do?”,
he said, “Nothing.”
Typical answer from my children about school.
